Baking Irish Soda Bread

Requires the right mood and a friend. No matter how long the buttermilk has been in the fridge, if the right mood is lacking, the buttermilk will become pancakes or biscuits instead of bread. Irish soda bread requires optimism.

The bread is easy to mix together, but kneading the dough without a friend to handle the flour is disheartening. Lonely dough ends up dense and less than fully cooked. When baked by two friends, the bread becomes light and airy under a golden crust.

Food prepared and shared is more wholesome than food alone, even if the ingredients are the same. If you want to be my friend, come bake and break bread with me.
